Writing: NaNoWriMo 2008
Since first hearing about National Novel Writers Month, guess at least four years ago, I've sniggered over the idea of anyone managing to produce a [half-way] competent 50,000 word novel in thirty days. Last night, however, I signed up for NaNoWriMo 2008.

There were several reasons that motivated me to join:

  • While I still love to write, my enthusiasm for it has declined over the past several months.

  • I'm out of practice in just dashing off something, and being happy with it.

  • My last drabble disappointed me both contentwise and stylistically.

  • As my muse seems to be MIA, it's time to put up a help wanted sign for a new one.

  • It's time to send my internal editor on vacation. The IE seems intent on keeping me sweating for every word I commit to pixel.

  • Time: I must learn to manage my time more efficiently, so that I can still have time for writing.

While it's doubtful I'll hit the 50,000 word mark come 30 November, if I can manage to motivate myself to work on or develop some of those plot bunnies floating around, I'll feel a lot better about myself.

So, here's looking forward to thirty days of hell.

Go for it!

If I had finished my thesis, I was going to do it since I don't have a job and could have tried it this year.
